Tensas Parish, Louisiana

Tensas Parish ((フランス語:Paroisse des Tensas)) is a parish located in the northeastern section of the State of Louisiana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,252,〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/22/22107.html )〕 making it the least populous parish in Louisiana. The parish seat is St. Joseph.〔(【引用サイトリンク】accessdate=2011-06-07 )〕 The name ''Tensas'' is derived from the Taensa people. Though the 56 percent black population is large in comparison to most other parishes; Tensas Parish, a century earlier in the 1910 census had 15,614 African Americans (92 percent) and only 1,446 whites (8 percent). In 1940, there were 11,194 blacks (70 percent) and 4,746 whites (30 percent).
